Polarization

Intermediate Hardware
The orientation of the electric field oscillation of a photon, used to encode qubit states in photonic systems.

📖 In-Depth Explanation

Light waves have an electric field that oscillates perpendicular to travel direction. In photonic quantum computing, horizontal polarization might represent |0⟩ and vertical |1⟩. Easily manipulated with wave plates.
